India itself will face losses if it stops trade with Bangladesh, Adviser of the interim government Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain said today (6 December).
"Does India give us products for free? No, they sell products for money. If it wants to stop [exports], let it do so. Did we stop eating beef because they stopped exporting cows?" he told reporters while visiting Bhomra Land Port in Satkhira this afternoon.
"If India stops exports, they will suffer. Lakhs of people are involved in this. We don't think India will destroy such a big market," added Sakhawat, who oversees the shipping ministry and labour and employment ministry.

On the election issue, the adviser said, "Whether today or tomorrow, politicians will run the country. If there is no consensus among politicians, then the nation's path to elections will become chaotic.
"All political parties are sitting together. This is an example not seen in the past."
