India, Bangladesh border forces to hold talks in Dhaka on 25-28 August
The meeting between Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary and his counterpart from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be the first such talks in Dhaka since a change of government in Bangladesh last year

Border security chiefs of India and Bangladesh will meet in Dhaka from 25 to 28 August to discuss cross-border crimes, attacks on Indian personnel and civilians, and infrastructure along the frontier, officials said on Friday.
The meeting between Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary and his counterpart from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be the first such talks in Dhaka since a change of government in Bangladesh last year, says Times of India.
India is expected to raise concerns over attacks on BSF personnel and Indian civilians by groups based in Bangladesh, trans-border crime, and action against Indian insurgent groups. The delegation will also discuss fencing along the border, confidence-building measures and implementation of the coordinated border management plan.
Talks were originally scheduled for July but were postponed due to administrative issues, Indian officials said. No major policy decisions are expected as Bangladesh is currently under an interim government that has scheduled national elections for February 2026.
DG-level border talks between the two forces were held annually between 1975 and 1992, before shifting to a bi-annual format in 1993. The last round took place in New Delhi in February this year.
India and Bangladesh share a 4,096-km border, of which 864 km remains unfenced, including 175 km deemed "non-feasible" for fencing, according to official data. The BSF is the lead agency on India's side for security and intelligence along the frontier.
