Imam, muazzin among 3 held after prayer ceremony on Mujib’s death anniversary in Noakhali

Three people, including a mosque's imam and muazzin, were detained in Noakhali's Kabirhat upazila after a prayer ceremony was held to mark the death anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman yesterday (15 August), reports Prothom Alo.
The event was reportedly attended by members of the banned Jubo League and Chhatra League. A video of the event later went viral, leading to a police raid.
The detained individuals were identified as Nizam Uddin, the mosque's imam; Nazrul Islam, the muazzin; and Md Karim, a member of the union's Jubo League. The three were taken into custody from Satbaria Jame Mosque area of Chaprashirhat Union.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam of Kabirhat Police Station confirmed the matter, stating that a case was being prepared against the detained individuals.
Police and local residents said the prayer and milad mahfil was held around 5:15pm at the home of the late Chhatra League leader Swapan Molla. The event was organised by local Chhatra League and Jubo League activists under the banner of the "Swapan Molla Memorial Foundation."
The detained imam and muazzin led the prayers.
