Human chain protest demands withdrawal of ‘false case’ against Feni journo
Journalists in Feni today (24 April) held a human chain protest demanding withdrawal of a 'false case' filed against a newsman for publishing report on local Union Parishad member Rahim Ullah.
A group of journalists under the banner of 'Feni Reporters Unity' formed the human chain at the Central Shaheed Minar at around 11:15am in the district town.
They also gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the law enforcing agencies to arrest the plaintiff of the case Rahim Ullah, a BNP activist and member of Amzadghat Union Parishad.

Media people from print, electronic and online news portals participated in the human chain.
Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, president of Feni Reporters Unity, said Rahim Ullah filed the case against a journalist using the identity of a political party.
He also threatened to go for tougher movement unless Rahim Ullah is not arrested within 48 hours and the case is withdrawn immediately.
Yesterday, Rahim Ullah filed a case against Tarek Chowdhury, a district correspondent of Dhaka Post and a correspondent of Daily Feni.
The court took the case into cognisance and asked DB to investigate the case.
Besides, Arifur Rahman, editor of Daily Feni, reporter of Daily Feni Mamunur Rahman, Dhaka Post reporter Jamshed Alam Anik and Omar Faruk were accused in the case. But Anik and Faruk were not reporters of Dhaka Post.
On 22 April, Dhaka Post and Daily Feni published an investigative report on the title of 'UP member involved in smuggling empire at the border', says 'this is my profession'. Rahim Ullah, BNP activist and member of No 7 Union Parishad was named as a drug peddler.
