Human chain demands cancellation of Laksam UNO’s transfer order
Speakers at the human chain praised UNO Kausar Hamid as a people-friendly officer, saying that his efficiency and honesty have earned public trust

Local people formed a human chain in Cumilla today (10 September), demanding the cancellation of the transfer order of Laksam Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kausar Hamid.
The event was organised by the Laksam Cultural Alliance, Laksam Women Entrepreneurs Organisation, and several other social and cultural groups.
The protest took place in front of the Upazila building and along the bypass of Cumilla-Noakhali regional highway.
Students and local residents also held a procession, circling the main road of the upazila before gathering at the upazila premises for a brief rally in solidarity with the organisers.
Speakers at the human chain praised UNO Kausar Hamid as a people-friendly officer, saying that his efficiency and honesty have earned public trust.
They called his transfer "conspiratorial and unreasonable" and demanded its immediate cancellation.
Kausar Hamid has gained popularity in less than a year by undertaking several initiatives, including excavating the Dakatiya River bed, preventing environmental degradation of the river, conducting multiple mobile court operations, and preserving the house of Nawab Faizunnesa.
Earlier in January, a transfer order against him also sparked public protests. Later, the authorities had cancelled that order amid protests.
