Home adviser visits National Eidgah, says 100% confident about Eid security arrangements
Jahangir Alam says 500 patrol teams will work to ensure security in Dhaka during Eid

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam has expressed 100% confidence in the security arrangements for the entire country, including the capital, during the Eid holidays.
He made this statement to reporters after inspecting the security arrangements at the National Eidgah Ground in the capital today (6 June).

"Eid prayers will be held in the same manner as every year. Law enforcement agencies are working to ensure security across the country. Those who will pray at the National Eidgah Ground won't need to bring their own prayer mats," said Jahangir.

He said, "Everyone should pray to Allah that it doesn't rain, and if it does rain, the main Eid congregation will be held at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. We have no shortage in our preparations. Adequate members of law enforcement agencies are working across the country. They haven't gone on leave to ensure everyone's security," he added.
When asked about security measures taken in empty Dhaka during Eid, as theft and snatching increase during this time, the home adviser said, "500 patrol teams will work for the capital's security. They will also work in alleys and lanes. In this regard, I seek your workers cooperation."

"If you have any information, immediately inform the police station. Sometimes small incidents occur, and we are working to prevent even those," he added.
When it was brought to the home adviser's attention that many victims cannot file cases at police stations, he said, "If any incident is not properly handled, action will be taken against those involved."
"Additionally, I want to inform you that an online GD (general diary) system has already been launched as a pilot project in the Sylhet Division. We are making arrangements so that GDs and cases can be filed online," he added.

Regarding the attack on a journalist who reported passenger harassment at Mohakhali, Jahangir said, "The matter has come to my attention. We are investigating. Along with law enforcement agencies, please inform us if anything comes to your notice. You should report true incidents."
"If false news is published, the neighbouring country takes advantage of it. They write about it extensively. You have a good reputation. You always write true news. You should maintain this," he added.

Regarding criminals getting bail and then engaging in crimes again, the adviser said, "This is not in the hands of the police. This is a matter for the courts. A few days ago, you saw that two top terrorists were brought under the law again after being released and engaging in crimes again."
"If anyone engages in illegal activities like this, they won't be spared either - whether they are small fish or big fish, no one gets a pass. The law is equal for everyone," he added.
