High-speed internet to transform education for students in Khagrachhari, Bandarban, Rangamati
This effort aims to bridge geographical barriers, allowing students in distant areas to connect with mainstream education
In a major step toward expanding digital education for students in the hill districts of Chattogram, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has signed three separate agreements with the respective Hill District Councils of Khagrachhari, Bandarban, and Rangamati.
Under these agreements, e-learning systems will be gradually introduced in primary and secondary schools across the three districts using Starlink internet technology. The initiative will provide students in remote hilly areas with uninterrupted high-speed internet access, enabling participation in online classes, digital content, and virtual learning activities. This effort aims to bridge geographical barriers, allowing students in distant areas to connect with mainstream education.
The most recent signing ceremony took place on 27 November at the Bandarban Hill District Council office, where BSCL Managing Director and CEO Muhammad Imadur Rahman and Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai signed the agreement.
Muhammad Imadur Rahman said, "This agreement opens a new horizon for education in the hill districts. By enhancing educational quality through technology and expanding digital access, the government is taking another step toward building a skilled and capable population."
Earlier, on 12 November at the Rangamati Hill District Council office, Imadur Rahman and Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Kajol Talukdar signed a similar agreement. The day before, on 11 November at the Khagrachhari Circuit House, Imadur Rahman and Khagrachhari Hill District Council Chairman Shefalika Tripura signed a corresponding agreement.
Following the agreements, Starlink connections are being installed in various schools across the districts.
