Hefazat men attack police camp at Sarail, 25 cops injured

At least 25 police members were injured as a group of followers of Hefazat-e-Islam, including madrasa students, carried out an attack on a police camp in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The identity of the injured policemen could not be known immediately.
Eyewitnesses said a group of followers of Hefazat-e-Islam brought out a procession protesting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh.

At first, madrasa students took part in the procession and then local people also joined it at Aruail Bazar. Afterwards, they jointly carried out the attack on the police camp.
At one stage, they started hurling stones at the police camp, leaving 25 police members injured.
Later, police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the attackers and brought the situation under control.
Sarail Police Station Inspector (investigation) Kabir Hossain said suddenly Hefazat followers from the procession launched the attack on the police camp.
However, the situation in the area is under control now, he added.
Meanwhile, a group of Hefazat-e-Islam leaders and activists attacked Bhanga police station in Faridpur.
At least six policemen were injured during the clash as protesters hurled stones at the police station. Later police fired rubber bullets and brought the situation under control.
