Measles-related deaths rise to 766 as seven more children die
With the latest update, the number of suspected measles-related deaths has risen to 671, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths stand at 95.
Seven more children died from confirmed or suspected measles in the 24 hours until 8am today (14 July), taking the nationwide death toll from the outbreak to 766, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest update, the number of suspected measles-related deaths has risen to 671, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths stand at 95.
During the same 24-hour period, 868 new suspected measles cases were reported, raising the cumulative number of suspected cases across the country to 113,244.
The DGHS also recorded 122 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 13,735.
Since 15 March, a total of 96,027 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. Of them, 92,383 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
