Measles: Death toll reaches 880 as 2 more children die in 24hrs
DGHS reports 872 new suspected cases and 107 confirmed infections in 24 hours, taking the cumulative suspected caseload above 138,000.
Two more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8am today (11 August), taking Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 880, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total deaths, 782 are suspected measles-related deaths, while 98 have been laboratory-confirmed, according to the latest DGHS data.
The health authorities also recorded 872 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 138,184.

Meanwhile, 107 new laboratory-confirmed cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 17,385.
Since 15 March, a total of 120,134 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, according to the DGHS.
Of them, 115,980 patients have recovered, while others remain under treatment or observation.
