Measles: Death toll reaches 878 as 5 more die in 24 hours
Of the total deaths, 780 are suspected measles deaths, while 98 have been confirmed through laboratory tests.
Five more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours between 8am yesterday (9 August) and 8am today (10 August), taking the number of suspected and confirmed measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 878.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the information through a press release today.
Of the total deaths, 780 are suspected measles deaths, while 98 have been confirmed through laboratory tests.
During the same period, 992 new suspected measles cases were reported, taking the nationwide total to 1,37,312.
Meanwhile, 163 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, raising the total number of confirmed measles infections to 17,278.
Since 15 March this year, a total of 1,19,322 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country. Of them, 1,15,139 have recovered.
