Measles: Death toll reaches 1,081 as 5 more children die
Confirmed measles cases cross 20,950 in Bangladesh.
Five more children died from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8am today (24 September), bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,081.
With the latest update, suspected measles deaths have risen to 980, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths have reached 101, according to the daily update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 1,183 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 1,84,632.

Meanwhile, 100 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 20,951.
Since 15 March, a total of 1,63,153 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country. Of them, 1,56,744 have recovered, according to DGHS.
