Nine more children die from measles, symptoms in 24hrs
Nine more children died from measles and related symptoms between 8am yesterday and 8am today (13 May), according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
During the same period, 1,489 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 126 were laboratory-confirmed as measles cases.
So far this year, at least 69 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 363 children have died with symptoms consistent with measles.
This takes the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and related symptoms to 432.
DGHS data show that between 15 March and 13 May, a total of 7,150 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
According to the latest health bulletin, 53,056 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide. Of them, 33,832 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
