Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain is scheduled to inaugurate the ICU services in person at General Hospital (Victoria), Narayanganj at 10am, while the remaining nine hospitals will join the programme virtually, according to the health ministry.
The hospitals where the new ICU units are being launched are – Munshiganj 250-bed District Hospital, Tangail 250-bed District Hospital, Sunamganj 250-bed District Sadar Hospital, Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital, Chuadanga District Hospital, General Hospital (Victoria) Narayanganj, Jashore 250-bed General Hospital, Sherpur 250-bed District Sadar Hospital, Madaripur District Hospital, and Bagerhat District Hospital.
The ministry said each ICU has been equipped with paediatric ventilators and oxygen concentrators, while the required manpower has already been deployed.
The facilities are now ready to provide advanced critical care services for both adult and paediatric patients at the district level, reducing the need for referrals to tertiary hospitals in major cities.
