ICU of DMCH to get 50 new beds for dengue patients

Fifty (50) new beds will be added to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), which will allow for accommodating more of the dengue patients.
The decision to increase number of beds in ICU at DMCH came after a meeting at the ‘disease control unit’ of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at Mohakhali in the capital on Tuesday.
Besides, according to DGHS directive, both the government and private hospitals must open help desks concerning dengue during the Eid vacation.

While talking about the incoming new beds in ICU, Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, director at DMCH, told the media on Tuesday that the process for the procurement of the beds is underway, and is expected to come in within couple of days.
Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, director general at the DGHS; Dr Sanya Tahmina, director of disease control at the DGHS; Dr MM Akhtaruzzaman, programme manager of national malaria prevention and aedes-borne disease control programme, DGHS officials, among others, were present at the meeting.
