Dengue outbreak: 4 more deaths, over 1,100 hospitalised in 24 hours

The dengue situation in Bangladesh continues to worsen, with four more deaths reported in the 24 hours leading up to this morning (4 November).
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 1,101 new dengue patients were hospitalised during this period, pushing the total number of cases this year to 73,923.
With the latest fatalities, the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease this year has risen to 292.
Among the new deaths, two occurred at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, one at Mugda Medical College Hospital, and one at DNCC Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital, Dhaka.
Currently, 1092 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka, while 3,102 patients are being treated across the country.
The DGHS report further shows that 61.8% of this year's patients are male, while 38.2% are female. Among the fatalities, 53.2% were men and 46.8% were women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, with a total of 101,214 cases and 100,040 recoveries recorded across the country.
