Dengue claims 2 more lives, 157 new cases reported in 24 hours
So far, 12 dengue-related deaths have been reported this year, of which seven occurred during the first 21 days of June.
Two people died of dengue in the country in the last 24 hours, while 157 new patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period, according to the latest dengue situation report.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued today (24 June) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the 157 new patients, 56 were reported from Barishal Division, 16 from Chattogram Division, 11 from Dhaka Division, 10 from Khulna Division, three from Mymensingh Division and four from Rajshahi Division, all outside the respective city corporation areas.
In the capital, 11 new patients were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation and 28 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
So far, 12 dengue-related deaths have been reported this year, of which seven occurred during the first 21 days of June.
During the 24-hour period, 119 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 4,919.
The total number of dengue cases reported in the country this year now stands at 5,317.
According to DGHS data, a total of 102,861 dengue cases and 413 dengue-related deaths were recorded in 2025. In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease.
