21 more children hospitalised in Ctg with measles symptoms, 4 new cases confirmed
The total number of confirmed measles patients in the district has reached 26.
Twenty-one more children showing symptoms of measles and pneumonia have been admitted to various hospitals in Chattogram in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of children currently under treatment in the district to 96.
During the same period, measles has been confirmed in 4 additional children.
District Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam told The Business Standard that the newly admitted children are showing fever, breathing difficulties, and skin rashes – symptoms consistent with measles and pneumonia.
"In the last 24 hours, samples from 20 children have been sent to Dhaka for testing. Most of them are residents of the metropolitan area. So far, a total of 282 samples have been sent from Chattogram for testing," he said.
According to the civil surgeon, with the new cases, the total number of confirmed measles patients in the district has reached 26, including 18 from the city and 8 from various upazilas.
Meanwhile, 13 children have recovered and been discharged after treatment.
The district health department said affected children are being treated at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, Chattogram General Hospital, Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital, and other public and private hospitals.
