The government is actively working to ensure a smooth Eid-ul-Adha journey for holidaymakers heading home, said Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

He made the remark this morning (6 June) after visiting the Mohakhali Bus Terminal in Dhaka to oversee holiday travel arrangements.

DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz, who accompanied the adviser, said mobile magistrate teams from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) had been operating at the terminal since early morning to reduce passenger suffering.

During the visit, Executive Magistrate Md Shahidul Islam led a mobile court raid targeting ticket counters accused of overcharging passengers. A transport company, Labiba Classic Ltd, was fined Tk5,000 under Section 80 of the Road Transport Act for collecting excessive fares.

Also present during the inspection were Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, secretary of the Local Government Division, and DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman.
