Govt releases documentary on 2009 BDR massacre
The film, titled “36 Hours of Betrayal,” portrays the tragic event that claimed 74 lives

The interim government has released a documentary on the 2009 massacre at the then-paramilitary Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters in Pilkhana, which left 74 people dead.
"A documentary series is being produced by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on fascist tyranny and the July Uprising. As part of this initiative, the film '36 Hours of Betrayal', based on the Pilkhana massacre, was released today," read a caption of the video posted on the Chief Adviser GOB's official Facebook page today (1 September).
"BDR massacre. From where fascism emerged, from where 16 years of subjugation began," the post added.
On 25 February 2009, several hundred mutineers of the then Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), launched an armed rebellion at the Pilkhana headquarters of the paramilitary force, brutally killing 74 people.
Among the martyrs were 56 valiant army officers, including the then BDR chief Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed. Their sacrifice remains a dark yet solemn chapter in the nation's history.
