Govt to procure one cargo LNG, 72,897 SPC poles
The approvals came from the 11th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase

The government today (11 March) approved separate proposals for procuring some one cargo LNG and 72,897 SPC poles to meet the growing demand for energy and strengthening the power distribution system in the country.
The approvals came from the 11th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held today at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat here today with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from M/S Excelerate Energy, LP, USA from the spot market through international quotation with around Taka664.40 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.30.
In three proposals from the Power Division, the government would procure a total of 72,897 SPC poles to strengthen the distribution system of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB).
In response to the first proposal to this end, the government would procure 24,300 SPC poles from Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited with around Tk76.68 crore under the "BREB Power Distribution System Modernization and Capacity Enhancement (Khulna Division) Project".
In another proposal, the government will procure 24,300 SPC poles under the same project from Charka SPC Poles Ltd JV with DADA Engineering Ltd, TSCO Power Limited and Pasha Poles Ltd, Bangladesh with around Tk76.65 crore.
In response to another proposal, the government will procure 24,297 SPC poles under the same project from Poltes and Concrete Limited JV with Contech Construction Limited, Royel Green Products Ltd and Sheltech Technology with around Tk76.61 crore.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Shipping, the government would ensure procurement of necessary works and commodities on G2G basis under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM) under the project for Expansion and Development of Mongla Port Facilities with around Tk4,046.48 crore.
Meanwhile, in response to another proposal from the Local Government Division, the consultancy services titled "Detailed Engineering Design for water supply and sanitation for Cumilla, Ishwardi cluster towns and Khagrachhari Town (DED-CTK) under the project for CHT integrated and sustainable poura water supply and sanitation project, has been awarded to
Dohwa-DEVCON-IWM JV with around Tk44.41 crore.
Advisers concerned attended the meeting while secretaries concerned were present.
