Govt to offer incentives for alternative brick producers
Alternative brick production does not require the burning of coal or logs, and therefore has no emission of harmful gasses
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin has said that the government will provide loans to alternative bricks producers at a minimum interest rate.
Speaking at a roundtable discussion held at the capital on Saturday, the minister added, "The government will reduce taxes on alternative brick producers, and they will not require any license to manufacture these bricks.
"The government has already decided to use alternative bricks in all public projects by 2025."

Meanwhile, the conventional brick production process requires a lot of fertile top soil.
Adding that alternative bricks are environment friendly and cost-effective, the minister said, "A decrease in the fertile top soil decreases food production in the country. The production of alternative bricks will save fertile top soil, as well as reduce the use of forest resources."
