Govt removes heads of governing bodies in private edu institutions
The Divisional commissioner, DC, and UNO will supervise the committees at city, district, and upazila levels respectively
The government has removed the chairman of governing bodies and managing committees in all private educational institutions in the country.
According to a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division on Tuesday, the deputy commissioner (DC) or a designated representative of the DC will supervise the committees at the district level while the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) at the upazila level.
Besides, the divisional commissioner or a designated representative of the divisional commissioner will be the chairman of the governing bodies and managing committees in metropolitan areas.
The notification also states that they will carry out these responsibilities until further notice.
The decision was made in light of clause 68 of the governing body and managing committee of Private Educational Institutions Regulation, 2024, considering the prevailing circumstances, it added.
