Govt committed to developing Ratargul tourism to boost local livelihoods: Asif Nazrul
Located in Sylhet’s Goainhat upazila, Ratargul Swamp Forest covers 504 acres and is a major tourist attraction.

The government is committed to developing tourism infrastructure in Ratargul Swamp Forest, the country's only swamp forest, to improve the living standards of local communities, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said today (17 September).
Speaking to reporters after a visit to the forest, he said, "Ratargul is unique in Bangladesh. By building tourism infrastructure here while preserving the environment, we can create opportunities to uplift local livelihoods. The government will extend all possible support for this initiative."
The adviser's visit was accompanied by Sylhet District Commissioner Sarwar Alam and several other government officials.
Located in Sylhet's Goainhat upazila, Ratargul Swamp Forest covers 504 acres and is a major tourist attraction. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1973, and in 2015, 204.25 hectares of the forest were designated as a Special Biodiversity Conservation Area.
