Govt cancels contractual appointment of ex-IGP Mainul Islam

The government has cancelled the remaining tenure of Md Mainul Islam, the former IGP during the interim period, who had been serving as a contractual head of a Bangladesh mission abroad, according to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.
The order issued yesterday (22 April) stated that the decision nullifies the earlier appointment made on 10 April.
The cancellation takes immediate effect in the public interest, the notification added.
The directive was issued by the ministry's Contracts and Foreign Recruitment Wing at the Bangladesh Secretariat and was signed by a Deputy Secretary on behalf of the President.
Copies of the notification have been sent to relevant government offices, including the Cabinet Division, the prime minister's office and other concerned authorities for necessary action.
