Govt appoints around 1300 legal officers this month

The government has appointed 1,299 legal officers at different courts in 25 districts across the country this month.

Of the legal officers, 30 were appointed in Munshiganj, 41 in Lakshmipur, 47 in Feni, 62 in Naogaon, 75 in Noakhali, 48 in Manikganj, 61 in Narsingdi, 151 in Tangail, 26 in Chapainawabganj, 71 in Gazipur, 31 in Magura, 14 Narail, 33 in Chuadanga, 18 in Gopalganj, 55 in Kushtia, 38 in Habiganj, 41 in Barguna, nine in Bandarban, seven in Rangamati, 124 in Rajshahi, 52 in Chandpur, 78 in Patuakhali, 45 in Gaibandha, 64 in Jamalpur and 78 in Pabna, Law Ministry Spokesperson Dr Md Rezaul Karim told BSS.

The law ministry has appointed them as government pleader (GP), additional GP, assistant GP, public prosecutor (PP), additional PP, assistant PP in the courts of the district and session judges, tribunals and courts of special judges in these districts.

In addition, 20 special public prosecutors (PPs) were appointed in an Explosive Substances Act case filed with Lalbagh Police Station regarding the 2009 BDR mutiny.

The 20 newly appointed special public prosecutors are- Md Borhan Uddin, Forhad Niyon, Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Mst Robhana Nasrin Shefali, Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Md Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Md Shafiul Boshor Sajal, Golam Moktadir Uzzal, Hannan Bhuiyan, Md Abdul Latif, Md Mehedi Hasan Jewel, Gazi Mashkurul Alam Sourabh, Md Helel Uddin, Md Zillur Rahman, Md Mahfujur Rahman Ilias, Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Md Mehebub Hossain, Md Mizanur Rahman Shihab, Md Khurshid Alam and Ajgar Hossain.
 
Three separate recruitment orders were issued from the solicitor wing of the law ministry on November 3, 10 and 13.

The government had also cancelled the appointments of the earlier appointed legal officers and relieved them from their charges, the ministry official added.
