Govt alert against orchestrated moves to destabilise Bangladesh, foil polls: CA's press secretary
Shafiqul Alam says the fallen dictatorship, its cohorts and their allied international forces together are making orchestrated moves to foil the next election and make it questionable.
Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said yesterday (29 September) that the interim government remains alert against any orchestrated move to destabilise the country and foil the upcoming general election.
"Those who siphoned off billions of dollars and fled the country have been taking well-orchestrated moves from abroad to destabilise the country," he told a press briefing at a hotel in New York.
Shafiqul said the fallen dictatorship, its cohorts and their allied international forces together are making well-orchestrated moves to foil the next election and make it questionable.
"We are observing such a move, but we remain optimally alert to this end and are working," he said.
Noting a campaign of fake news is being carried out against Bangladesh, the press secretary said Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is informing world leaders about it.
He said the democratic transition is very important for Bangladesh, so the interim government is committed to holding a free and fair election in February next year.
