The gold prices will increase by Tk2,333 per bhori in the local bullion market from Monday.

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) came up with the decision as the prices of gold is climbing in the international market.

Bajus in a press release said they have decided to increase the prices of gold by TK 200 per gram.

Gold prices also hiked in the domestic market due to shortage of gold import as the international flights remained suspended amid the lockdown.

Keeping in line, the price of 22 carat bhori (11.664gm) of gold will be increased by Tk 2,333 and will cost Tk 71,443 from today.

21-carat gold will cost Tk 68,293 while 18-carat gold will be available at Tk 59,544 and gold acquired in traditional method will cost Tk 49,022.

Bajus has kept the price of silver intact as each bhori of 22-carat silver will be sold at Tk 1,516 while 21-carat and 18-carat silver are still available at Tk1,435 and Tk1,225 respectively. The prices of silver acquired in traditional methods will remain at Tk 933 per bhori.
