Gold prices drop by Tk12,014 per bhori in Bangladesh
So far in 2026, gold prices have been adjusted 22 times in the local market
Gold prices in Bangladesh have been cut twice in a single day by a total of Tk12,014 per bhori, with the new rates taking effect immediately, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) said yesterday.
In a morning notice, Bajus announced a reduction of Tk6,590 per bhori, revising the price of 22-carat hallmark gold to Tk2,51,184. The new rate took effect at 10:45am following a decline in the local price of pure gold (tejabi).
Later the same day, at around 3:00pm, Bajus issued another notice, cutting prices further by Tk5,424.
Under the latest revision, the price of a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk245,760, effective immediately.
Bajus said the second adjustment was also prompted by a continued fall in local pure gold prices.
Under the latest revised rates, 21-carat gold will sell at Tk234,563 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk201,087, and traditional method gold at Tk164,523.
In addition to the selling price, buyers will have to pay a mandatory 5% government VAT and a minimum 6% wage set by Bajus. The making charge, however, may vary depending on the design and quality of jewellery.
Bajus last adjusted gold prices on the night of 1 February, when it reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk1,925 per bhori to Tk2,57,774.
So far in 2026, gold prices have been adjusted 22 times in the local market: raised on 14 occasions and reduced seven times.
Silver prices have been adjusted 15 times so far this year, with increases on nine occasions and reductions on five.
