Gents parlour employee beaten to death in Gazipur

An employee of a gent’s parlour was beaten to death allegedly by his co-workers in Jorpukurpar area of Gazipur.

Victim’s sister Jharna Begum claimed that her brother, Asedul Rony, 35, from Naogaon district, was beaten to death inside the parlour on Thursday night.

Rony used to live in a rented house at South Boruda in the town with his wife and two children, she said.

Seeking anonymity, an Ansar member at Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital said some people had brought Rony to the hospital around 12:30am. They tried to flee the hospital after learning that Rony had died. But the Ansar members caught two of them and handed over to police.

The police later arrested three others after conducting an overnight drive.

The arrestees are Al-Amin, 19, Rimon, 20, Laizu, 25, Rimon, 18, and Azizur, 25.

Pranay Bhusan Das, resident medical officer of Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital, said Rony was dead when he was brought to the hospital and his body bore several injury marks.

Samir Chandra Sutradhar, acting officer-in-charge of Gaziput Metropolitan Police, said Rony and the arrested persons were co-workers at Adam Gent’s Parlour.

In primary interrogation, the arrestees informed the police that Rony was killed as he sexually harassed Laizu’s sister-in-law, said the OC.
