Ganatantrik Odhikar Committee calls for govt action against rising violence, injustice
In a statement, signed by the committee’s member Anu Muhammad today (2 March), the committee expressed grave concern over the increasing cases of murders, mob justice, and attacks on cultural activities across the country

The Ganatantrik Odhikar Committee has urged the government to take proactive measures against rising spree of incidents of murder, rape, robbery, extrajudicial killings, sexual harassment, and violence that threaten public safety and civic freedoms.
In a statement, signed by the committee's member Anu Muhammad today (2 March), the committee expressed grave concern over the increasing cases of murders, mob justice, and attacks on cultural activities across the country.
"Women's freedom of movement, participation in sports, and cultural engagements are under threat. Shockingly, several prominent writers and educators have received death threats that were widely circulated, yet no action has been taken against the perpetrators," the statement reads.
The committee further stated that the government has consistently failed to uphold the essence of the July uprising and is instead resorting to denial and inaction.
It demanded that the administration acknowledge the gravity of the situation and take decisive action against criminals while upholding citizens' democratic rights.
The statement also called for tolerance towards peaceful protesters and firm action against organised violence and terrorism.
