Four earthquakes hit near Bay of Bengal in 90 minutes
The final quake was reported around 11:15pm.
A series of four earthquakes struck near the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday night within a span of just one and a half hours, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The first quake, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, occurred at around 9:45pm Bangladesh time. It was centred approximately 275 kilometres southeast of Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, at a depth of 10 kilometres beneath the seabed.
Subsequently, three more were recorded in nearby areas, measuring 5.0, 4.9, and 4.6 in magnitude. The final quake was reported around 11:15pm.
No tsunami warning was issued following the seismic activity, and no casualties or damage have been reported so far.
