Former Tangail-5 MP shown arrested in July murder attempt case
According to the case documents, on the morning of 5 August, 2024, around 200 to 300 Awami League activists, armed with weapons, attacked protesters in the Bhatara Police Station area during the July Mass Uprising.
A Dhaka court today (28 September) showed former Tangail-5 lawmaker Md Sanowar Hossain arrested in a case filed over an alleged attempt to murder Soheli Tamanna during the July Mass Uprising in 2024.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Karim passed the order after police produced the former lawmaker before the court and sought an order to show him arrested in the case.

During the attack, Soheli Tamanna sustained serious injuries to her left wrist from gunfire and blows with locally made weapons. She also suffered a gunshot wound to her back.
She was later rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. In connection with the incident, Tamanna, as the plaintiff, filed an attempted murder case with Bhatara Police Station on 7 July, 2025.
