Former health secretary Jahangir arrested in Dhaka
Former health secretary Jahangir Alam Bulbul has been arrested from the capital by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
He was taken into custody early today (18 February), confirmed DB chief and DMP Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik.
He said Jahangir was arrested from his residence and taken to the DB office, where he is currently being held.

The former secretary is accused in multiple cases, including those filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said the DB chief.
"However, it has not yet been decided under which case he [Jahangir] will be officially shown arrested," he added.
Jahangir was appointed as the secretary of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in October 2023.
On 20 August 2024, after the fall of the Awami League government, he was transferred to the Planning Commission as a member. Later, on 28 October of the same year, the government sent him into compulsory retirement.
