Bangladesh missions ordered to remove President Shahabuddin's portrait

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed all Bangladeshi embassies, consulates, and diplomats abroad to remove portraits of President Md Shahabuddin from their offices and residences.
Foreign ministry Spokesperson Shah Asif Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today (17 August).
According to ministry sources, no formal letter or email has been issued regarding the directive. Instead, the instruction was conveyed over phone to several ambassadors and high commissioners by region, with orders to pass the message on to other missions.
Bangladesh currently has 82 missions and sub-missions around the world. Since 5 August 2024, portraits of President Md Shahabuddin have been removed from most of the missions and sub-missions, according to MoFA.
