Foreign affairs adviser calls for immediate ceasefire to protect Palestinians from ‘genocide and atrocities’
He also urged that all those responsible for crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people be brought to justice

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has called for an immediate ceasefire to protect the Palestinian people from what he described as "genocide and the most brutal atrocities."
He made the statement yesterday (29 July) while addressing an international conference at the UN headquarters in New York on the peaceful resolution of the Palestine crisis.
"Israel has so far killed more than 58,000 Palestinians and continues its genocide," Touhid said.
He also urged that all those responsible for crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people be brought to justice.
The adviser reaffirmed Bangladesh's support for an independent Palestinian state and called upon the United Nations and the international community to play an effective role in implementing a two-state solution, ensuring peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine as the only path to lasting peace in the Middle East.
Welcoming the Arab plan for Gaza's reconstruction, Touhid said Bangladesh is ready to participate in the rebuilding process under UN leadership.
He also urged global efforts to resist any attempt to obstruct the UN's relief distribution in Gaza.
The three-day ministerial conference, titled "United Nations High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution", has been organised jointly by France and Saudi Arabia.
The event aims to reaffirm member states' commitment to a permanent solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state amid Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza since October 2023.
Delegations from 118 countries, including Bangladesh, are participating in the conference.
