Durga Puja mandaps to be monitored by UNO offices, police stations nationwide

All Durga Puja mandaps across the country will be monitored through IP cameras from the offices of Upazila Nirbahi Officer and local police stations, the Press Wing of the chief adviser announced today.
"Police and RAB will conduct patrols, while a special intelligence team will be operational," Chief adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir said during a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
Jahangir said the government will make necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth observance of the Buddhist festival "Kathin Chibar Dan." A special team will also be working round the clock through the emergency helpline 999.
"Many people are upset due to rising commodity prices, and the government is paying special attention to this issue.
"The Ministry of Commerce and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection are monitoring the situation, and fines are being imposed for irregularities. A 10-member task force will be formed in every district, including two student representatives," added the deputy press secretary.
He also mentioned that lists of people injured in the uprising are being collected from the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Dhaka Medical College Hospital to provide financial assistance from the July Martyrs' Memorial Foundation.
A hotline number – 16000 – has been set up for the foundation, with the line available 24/7. An official website for the foundation has also been launched.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder were present at the event.
