Female lawyer's gold chain snatched from moving bus in Ctg in broad daylight, 2 detained
The incident took place around 10am near the fruit market on Station Road area in the city

A female lawyer in Chattogram fell victim to a daylight robbery when her gold chain was snatched by an unidentified individual from a moving bus today (26 February).
"The incident took place around 10am near the fruit market on Station Road area in the city when the victim, Shefayetun Nesa Soma, was travelling on a bus operating on Route 6," Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Karim told The Business Standard.
He said following the incident, they seized the bus and detained the driver along with his assistant for questioning.
"We received a verbal complaint from the victim about her gold chain being snatched. If the victim files a case, we will take legal action. Additionally, efforts are underway to identify the other individuals involved," the OC added.
Describing the incident Soma said, "I boarded a Metro Probhaty bus from my home in Katgor to Tiger Pass and then switched to a Route 6 bus. I was sitting right behind the driver's seat when 6-7 men boarded the bus at Station Road and stood near me, crowding the space. One of them asked me to move, and suddenly, another person from behind snatched my gold chain and ran off the bus."
"I immediately shouted 'thief, thief!' but the other men on the bus blocked my way, preventing me from getting off. Eventually, they all left one by one. The driver and his assistant remained indifferent throughout, and the driver even slowed the bus down deliberately to give the snatchers a chance to escape. I strongly believe they were involved in the incident," she added.
When asked if she had taken any legal action, Soma stated, "Right after the incident, I went to the Kotwali police station and reported everything to a sub-inspector on duty. About 10-15 minutes later, the same Route 6 bus was spotted speeding past Kotwali Intersection without picking up passengers from Laldighi. The police then intercepted the bus and detained the driver and his assistant. I will file a written complaint."
