3 cops, informer injured in attack during raid in Narayanganj

Three police officers and an informer were injured after they came under attack while attempting to arrest a robbery suspect in Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila today (4 July).
The incident took place in the Satbhaiyapara area in the afternoon when the team was conducting a raid to arrest an accused in multiple motorcycle and pickup van robbery cases, confirmed Sonargaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar.
The injured are Sub-Inspector Suruzzaman, constables Shahin and Mainul of Sonargaon Police Station, and police informer Masum Mia. The three police personnel are receiving treatment at Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex, while Masum was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
SI Suruzzaman said he, along with the two constables, launched the operation in Satbhaiyapara under Baidyerbazar union to arrest the suspect.
Upon reaching the spot, the accused, identified as Sagar, and his brother Sajal allegedly attacked the team with sharp weapons, leaving all four injured, he said.
Additional police officers later rescued the injured and took them to hospital.
OC said Sagar and Sajal had been arrested in connection with the attack.
"They will face legal action," he added.
