In an effort to keep prices of essential commodities stable, ensure smooth supply chains and curb activities of syndicates, a team of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) inspected Karwan Bazar in Dhaka on Sunday (13 October).

Led by FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman, the apex trade organisation's market monitoring team inspected the kitchen market as part of their regular efforts to maintain market stability.

Following the inspection, Hafizur participated in a discussion where he urged wholesalers, retailers and traders to act more responsibly in keeping the prices of daily necessities at a reasonable level.

"Ensuring fair prices is a shared responsibility, and all involved in the supply chain must contribute to maintaining stability in the market," he said.

The meeting was presided over by Md Omar Faruk, president of the Karwan Bazar Arat Business Multipurpose Cooperative Society. He reaffirmed the business community's commitment to cooperating with FBCCI's regular market monitoring activities.

During the inspection yesterday, the FBCCI found that beef was selling at Tk750 per kg, goat meat at Tk1,000 per kg, broiler chicken at Tk200 per kg, and Sonali chicken between Tk280 and Tk300 per kg.

Additionally, eggs were priced at Tk165 per dozen, potatoes were selling for Tk55 per kg, eggplant for Tk80 per kg, green chilli for Tk280-300 per kg, and local onions for Tk110 per kg.

Price lists were visibly displayed in all shops.
