Farmers to get smart cards in place of 'fake' TCB cards: Food adviser
The farmers would be encouraged if they get fair prices of the produced goods, he says

Farmers will receive smart cards, replacing "fake" TCB cards, ensuring they get fair prices for their produce, Food Adviser Ali Imam Majumder said today (3 May).
"There are many fake cards of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in the country. New smart cards would be given to the farmers after cancelling the fake cards," he said while visiting the progress of the construction work of a silo and food godown at Bandar upazila of Narayanganj.
The farmers would be encouraged if they get fair prices of the produced goods, he said.
He also noted that the price of rice in the country is becoming tolerable gradually but it should not reduce drastically. "We have to give fair price of rice to the farmers."
"We could be able to make a sustainable food stock in the country as the Boro production in this year is very good," said the adviser.
He went on to say that the government may increase the number of beneficiaries of the food related projects, if the production of other crops along with Boro paddy is satisfactory.
Ali Imam stated that the demand of wheat in the country is nearly 70 lakh tonnes but the country produces only 10 lakh tonnes.
"So, we have to import nearly 60 lakh tonnes but most of the importers are private importers," he added.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Zahidul Islam and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narayanganj Prottus Kumar Majumder accompanied the adviser during the visit.
