Fakhrul calls on use of modern tech for water treatment

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today (7 May) called for increasing use of modern water and wastewater treatment technologies for sustainable development.
He said this in a meeting with Shailesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Chennai-based multinational water technology company VA Tech Wabag Limited in his office at the Secretariat today, said a ministry press release.

The meeting discussed in details the country's water management, water purification process and ensuring the standard of safe drinking water.
The meeting particularly discussed the water quality of the Buriganga River when the minister said the government is taking effective initiatives to prevent pollution in the country's rivers.
Local Government Division Secretary Shahidul Hasan and senior officials of the ministry were present.
