Ex-minister Narayan Chandra Chanda, wife sued over Tk2.41 crore graft allegation
A charge sheet will be submitted to the court after further investigation

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today (3 March) filed two separate cases against former land minister Narayan Chandra Chanda and his wife, Usha Rani Chanda, on charges of acquiring assets worth Tk2.41 crore beyond their known sources of income.
ACC assistant directors Rakibul Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Shuvro filed the cases at ACC's Integrated District Office, Khulna this afternoon.
The case against Narayan Chandra Chanda alleges that the former minister amassed assets worth Tk1.79 crore through corruption during his tenure as the MP for Khulna-5 and as the minister of Fisheries and Livestock and later the Land Ministry.
In a separate case, the ACC named both Narayan Chandra Chanda and Usha Rani Chanda as accused. According to the case statement, they jointly acquired assets worth Tk62 lakh unlawfully.
Md Abdul Wadud, deputy director of the ACC's Khulna office, stated that the commission launched an investigation on 23 October 2024 after receiving a complaint against Narayan Chandra Chanda.
"During the investigation, it was found that along with Narayan Chandra, his wife Usha Rani Chanda had also acquired assets illegally. Therefore, one case has been filed against Narayan Chandra and another jointly against the two of them. A charge sheet will be submitted to the court after further investigation. If additional undisclosed assets are discovered, those will also be included in the charge sheet," he said.
