Ex-health minister Nasim in deep coma, medical board formed

Former health minister Mohammed Nasim, who tested positive for Covid-19 and suffered a brain hemorrhage, is currently in a deep coma at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka. 

"We were able to control Mohammad Nasim's blood pressure with medicine. But he does not have any sense. The amount of salt increased in his body," said Professor Dr Raziul Haque, who led the medical team for the brain surgery of the former health minister. 

A 13-member medical team, consisting of neurologist, neurosurgery specialist, nephrologist, endocrinologist, internal medicine specialist, has been formed for Nasim's treatment.

Besides, doctors of Bangladesh Specialised Hospital, vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Kanak Kanti Barua, Director of Neurosciences Institute Din Mohammad, Cardiac specialist of Lab Aid Hospital Dr Sohrabuzzaman are in the medical team. 

Prior to going into a coma, Nasim was in critical condition and in ventilation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital at Shyamoli in the capital.

On June 1, Nasim was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital with Covid-19 symptoms, including fever and cold.

He later tested positive for Covid-19 and was rushed into surgery after suffering a brain haemorrhage. Nasim underwent brain surgery at the hospital on Saturday. 

Mohammad Nasim is a diabetic patient. He had a stroke before.
