Ex-CJ Khairul Haque hospitalised after heart attack

Former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque, who is currently in prison, has suffered a heart attack.
He has been admitted to the CCU of Bangladesh Medical University, commonly known as PG Hospital, his son Ashikul Haque confirmed to The Business Standard this evening (25 August).
"He was taken to the hospital this morning and admitted to the CCU in the evening. After conducting some tests, we discovered that he had suffered a heart attack," Ashikul said.
Central Jail's Superintendent AKM Masum said at around 11 am, Khairul fell ill inside the prison and was taken to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Earlier on 24 July, police arrested Khairul from his residence in Dhanmondi.
Later, he was shown arrested in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station and produced before the court.
Following a hearing, the judge ordered him to be sent to prison.
This marked the first time a former chief justice was arrested and sent to jail in connection with a murder case.
ABM Khairul Haque was the 19th chief justice of the country.
For a long time, he has faced allegations of political bias, controversial verdicts, and using constitutional amendments to serve political purposes.
