Int'l Lead Poisoning Prevention Week: Youth march demands ban on lead-based product
The march aimed to raise public and media awareness while urging policymakers to introduce and enforce stricter regulations against lead contamination.

Hundreds of youths joined a rally in Dhaka today (18 October), calling for a complete ban on lead-based products in Bangladesh.
Organised by the Environment and Social Development Organisation (ESDO) under the Lead Exposure Elimination Project, with support from Unicef Bangladesh, the event was held as part of International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW) 2025.

This year's theme was "There is no safe level of lead exposure in the human body."
The march began at the National Museum and concluded at the High Court premises.
One of the participants said, "We know that lead poisoning can destroy our future, yet it is still used in many products around us. We are here today to demand a lead-free future—because we have the right to grow up healthy and safe."
The march aimed to raise public and media awareness while urging policymakers to introduce and enforce stricter regulations against lead contamination.
Participants also called for eliminating lead from all sources in Bangladesh to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone—especially for the younger generation.
