The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) has successfully commissioned three newly constructed transmission lines, said the Power Division today.

According to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources source, PGCB's newly constructed Karerhat-Chaumuhani 230 kilovolt four circuit transmission line was successfully charged (commissioned) by applying voltage from the Chaumuhani Grid Substation end at 1pm on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the Chaumuhani-Kochua 230 kV four circuit transmission line and Chaumuhani-Maizdi 230 kV double circuit transmission line were charged (commissioned) by applying voltage from the Chaumuhani Grid Substation.

The newly constructed lines will play a significant and effective role in transmitting electricity to the national grid, which will increase the grid's capacity, according to industry insiders.

The lengths of the Karerhat-Chaumuhani, Chaumuhani-Kochua, and Chaumuhani-Maizdi lines are 53 kilometres, 50 km, and 20 km, respectively.

The new lines were constructed under PGCB's project titled "Expansion and Augmentation of Eastern Grid Network." The project was jointly financed by the development partner World Bank, the Bangladesh government and PGCB.
