Govt forms high-level cabinet committee to review electricity price adjustment
The committee has been formed to prepare proposals on adjusting wholesale and retail electricity tariffs in response to the growing fuel and power crisis amid the prevailing global situation.
The government has formed a six-member high-level cabinet committee, headed by the finance minister, to address the country's ongoing fuel and electricity sector crisis.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Cabinet Division on 9 April and published on its website yesterday (13 April).
The committee members include the power, energy and mineral resources minister, commerce minister, finance secretary, power division secretary, and energy and mineral resources division secretary.
According to the notification, the committee has been formed to prepare proposals on adjusting wholesale and retail electricity tariffs in response to the growing fuel and power crisis amid the prevailing global situation.
As per its terms of reference, the committee will conduct a detailed review of the energy and electricity situation and formulate specific recommendations for the cabinet regarding adjustments to wholesale and retail power tariffs.
The committee may co-opt additional members if necessary, while meetings will be held as required. The Power Division will provide secretarial support to the committee.
