SSC re-scrutiny results likely on 10 Sep, 400,000 await outcome
The tentative date has been included in the draft Class XI admission policy, but the final schedule depends on the education ministry’s approval.
Results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exam re-scrutiny may be published on 10 September, with more than 400,000 candidates awaiting the outcome.
The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has proposed the date to the education ministry, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka Chairman Syed Aktaruzzaman said today (20 August). He said the date would be finalised after the ministry approves the proposal.
A total of 402,051 students applied for re-scrutiny this year, seeking a review of the results of 1,056,455 theoretical answer scripts and 231,471 scripts linked to practical examinations. With both theoretical and practical components, a total of 1,287,926 answer scripts will be re-scrutinised.
The SSC and equivalent examination results were published on 10 August. This year's overall pass rate was 62.25%, the lowest in 19 years. A total of 690,608 students failed the examinations.
Applications for re-scrutiny were accepted from 11 August, the day after the results were published, until 17 August.
The Dhaka Education Board received the highest number of applications. A total of 94,236 students applied for re-scrutiny of 277,665 scripts.
A total of 35,929 students applied for re-scrutiny of 91,494 scripts in the Cumilla Board while
39,762 students applied for 98,710 scripts in Rajshahi, 28,862 students applied for 74,717 scripts in Jashore and 39,798 students applied for 114,706 scripts in Chattogram Board.
Meanwhile, 17,283 students in the Barishal Board applied for re-scrutiny of 50,293 scripts, 20,782 students in Sylhet applied for 50,710 scripts and 37,296 students in Dinajpur applied for 89,286 scripts.
Under the Madrasa Education Board, 20,307 Dakhil candidates applied for re-scrutiny of 34,305 scripts. In the Technical Education Board, 27,676 students from the SSC and Dakhil vocational examinations applied for re-scrutiny of 71,066 scripts.
Earlier, at a press conference at the Secretariat on 10 August, Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said the answer scripts of students who applied for re-scrutiny would not only be re-scrutinised but also re-evaluated.
