SSC results re-scrutiny: 4,585 more pass, 3,079 more secure GPA-5

A total of 4,585 examinees have newly passed the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations following the re-scrutiny of this year's results, while another 3,079 students have secured GPA-5.

As a result, the total number of GPA-5 achievers has risen to 1,19,755 from 1,16,676 in the revised results. The re-scrutiny results were published today (10 September).

According to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, the marks of 56,259 students changed following the re-scrutiny, with the grades or GPAs of 27,836 students revised.

A total of 4,02,052 students from 11 education boards applied for re-scrutiny, seeking review of 10,56,458 answer scripts.

Among the nine general education boards, the Mymensingh Board recorded the highest number of students who moved from fail to pass, with 1,180 students. It was followed by Dinajpur with 867, Jashore 380, Dhaka 337, Cumilla 336, Chattogram 190, Sylhet 186, Rajshahi 111 and Barishal 79.

Another 255 students under the Madrasa Education Board and 664 under the Technical Education Board newly passed after re-scrutiny.

Prof Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, told TBS that this year's process included a full re-evaluation of answer scripts alongside the usual re-scrutiny, resulting in more changes to results.

"All the subjects for which students applied were examined carefully. The addition of full re-evaluation to the re-scrutiny process increased the number of changes this year," he said.

The re-scrutiny process checks errors in adding marks, filling in bubbles and other numerical mistakes, while full re-evaluation involves assessing the entire answer script again.

The SSC and equivalent examinations were held earlier this year, with the results published on 10 August. Of 18,29,485 examinees, 11,38,877 passed, resulting in a pass rate of 62.25%.
